Director of NOVA Birth Services

Certified Labor Doula, Certified Childbirth Educator, Doulagrapher

Tara is a busy but very happy wife and mother to 4 children, 2 daughters and 2 sons. She has been supporting and educating families in pregnancy and childbirth since 2006 and has been training childbirth educators and doulas since 2010. Tara’s driving passion is to see mothers and babies in pregnancy and birth humanized and treated according to their immeasurable worth. She believes that when mom and baby are loved and cared for properly during their most impressionable years together, the entire family benefits – and healthy, empowered families are what ultimately build healthy, whole societies. Tara’s energies in training up more educators and doulas are fueled by her longing to see the humanization of birth take place on a global scale, for the millions of forgotten, underprivileged mothers and babies of the developing world.

Labor Monitrice & Labor Doula

Heather developed a love for maternal and newborn health in 2002 as she was able to witness firsthand the lack of nutrition and suffering of women and children in East Africa. She became a Registered Nurse in 2004 and has since then had experience in Medical/Surgical, Postpartum and Nursery units and has served the low-income and refugee population with the Vanderbilt Midwives at a public health clinic in Nashville.

In 2006, she began her pursuit as a Certified Professional Midwife and has now begun to serve women in the Middle Tennessee area as a licensed CPM-TN. She works for NOVA as a doula and Monitrice (a doula highly experienced in clinical skills) because she recognizes that women deserve to be empowered through education and have a supportive advocate throughout labor in order to have the best possible outcomes.

She has 4 children, 2 daughters and 2 year-old twin boys that have given her the inspiration to help women into a healthy motherhood. She hopes to one day start holistic primary health & birth centers in India with her husband who is working on his Master’s in Public Health.

Certified Childbirth Educator, Labor Doula and Postpartum Doula

Megan’s passion to serve women during the childbearing year began when she was inspired by the women of her own community as they began their journeys into motherhood and eventually found empowering experiences through education. It was then that she pursued education to become a Childbirth Educator and Doula and became driven by the need for birth workers both in Nashville, and especially in the developing world. Megan believes that parents can make excellent decisions for their growing family when they are informed through empowering education. She is involved in the training of others pursuing an occupation in Childbirth Education as an instructor, which she finds very rewarding. She finds great joy in offering compassionate service to women during their most precious and vulnerable moments in life as they bring children into the world. She plans to pursue midwifery to serve long-term in Uganda, where she has experience serving families through education and birth support.
